This is Koguma, he is an Akita that took us about a year and a half
to find. I had a wonderful brindle Akita named
Kodi who was the center
of my world, and wanted to find another Akita.
We started searching in the Bay Area, and couldn't find what
we wanted, so we extended our search to California. Then the West Coast,
then the West half of the states, then the USA, then the world. It turns
out that the Akita has developed health issues because of inbreeding in
the last couple decades since my last Akita, so we had to search pedigrees
to find a dog that had a healthy family tree. We finally found our
little boy in Ireland at the fantastic
Ryuukita breeder.
He was the big boy in his litter, and he's a little master at our house.
He has his own section in our photo album, and
also many photos of him with his buddy our cat, Turbo
His kennel name (which is still his UK pedigree name because of silly rules at the UK Kennel Club) is "Ryuukita Higuma Go".
Ryuukita is the breeder, and "Higuma Go" essentially means "Little Brown Bear" - which is shockingly and coincidentally close
to the name we had already picked for our next Akita before even meeting him.
